Mayor Hick says that he has "young friends" who are "risking everything" to buy "funky little houses on
the west side" to scrape and replace with duplexes and triplexes and make "$50,000, maybe $100,000"
doing it...... Usually, developers call them "shacks", not "funky little houses", but the dismissive sense
is the same.
If you are a current homeowner, and believe that the streetscape on which your house sits is a
significant portion of its value (location/location/location), consider these losses to the streetscape.....
with no compensation to you by either the developer or the city that permits the job!
2916 Perry; triplex coming.....
|
3917 West 32nd; 4 story triplex coming...
|
29xx Perry; duplex underway....
|
3000 block Newton; triplex underway....
|
Remember: The greenest house is the one already built!
|
And what does your streetscape get in return? Another plywood jewel....
See how nicely it reflects and complements the neighborhing homes, thus adding value all-around? NOT!
